As a patient, when you come in for chiropractic care, you have some type of problem that you want fixed, as fast as possible.

You want outcomes like:

  • less pain
  • more comfort sitting, standing and lying down
  • better sleep
  • the ability to get in and out a car
  • ease of breathing with no stabbing rib pain
  • better range of motion in your neck and shoulders
  • fewer or no headaches
  • less muscle aches or cramps
  • no low back pain
  • no pain radiating down your legs
  • no numbness in your hands

You come in for relief of PHYSICAL pain. And sometimes it’s a one-and-done fix, which is awesome. But more often, it’s a chronic problem, exacerbated by work habits, sleeping position, postural problems, ongoing stress and tension, clenched jaws, overtightened muscles, insomnia, anxiety, or recovery from an injury or illness.

Whether it’s a new injury or a chronic problem, there’s always an emotional component to pain. Pain is an emotional stressor. Chronic pain takes its toll and creates feelings of hopelessness, despair, depression, increased anxiety, and loss of control.

My skills in dealing with physical pain are solid - I’ve been doing chiropractic for 18 years. I work with you to get you as comfortable as possible during your adjustment, and give you tools and tactics for minimizing pain and emotional stress when you go home or go back to work. I listen carefully, seeking to understand how you feel so I can help the best way possible.

Yet there has always been a gap in my ability to help with the emotional component of healing. I KNOW there’s emotion involved with all body trauma. (How many times can I quote and recommend that excellent book, The Body Keeps the Score, by Bessel van der Kolk?)

After years of frustration with that gap between the physical and the emotional, I’ve found a system that integrates the mind and body, and I’ve started the journey to become a certified Rapid Transformational Therapist. I like “Rapid”. I like “Transformational”. And though I won’t be a traditional “sit-and-discuss-your-problems” type of therapist, the training will help me work with you to uncover the unresolved root causes of pain and trauma, so you can release old patterns that might be keeping you stuck.

I’m really excited about this, and when you come in for an adjustment, you’ll hear me using new words and phrases to help you relax your nervous system so you get a better, longer-lasting adjustment.

It’s an extensive training process, and it’ll take me most of 2021 to become certified. The pandemic has forced a lot of changes….but this one is exciting and I’m so glad to share this transformation with you!
