Words have power over the quality of relationships, our work, and our health -  mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally. When we talk - to ourselves or to others - we set into motion the energy of trust or distrust, high-energy or low-energy, power or weakness, love or fear.

Think about conversations:

"Why didn't you call me today?"

"Why didn't you pick up your toys when I asked?"

"Why haven't you finished this project yet?"

Or self-talk:

"Why am I procrastinating?"

"Why can't I get my life together?"

"Why am I so bad at ______X______?"

"Why" questions almost always bring up defenses and excuses, shame and blame. By listening for the "why's", we can shift them to better questions and therefore, make progress in our relationships - with others, and with ourselves.

Listen to the difference, and notice how it feels:

"How can I help?"

"Where are you hitting roadblocks with your project - do you need anything?"

"What do I gain by putting off this project?"

"Where in my life can a I make a small change that will make a big difference in the next few weeks or months?"

Changing the way we ask questions is a conscious process. There are SO many great resources for changing our questions (two of my favorites are Clean Language or the book Change Your Questions, Change Your Life by Marilee Adams.)

Asking these questions consciously will make a huge difference. Asking better questions unconsciously, through hypnosis, will take you to a new and amazingly powerful level of your best life.
